Angola (also known as "The Farm") is the Louisiana State Penitentiary and is estimated to be one of the largest prisons in the U.S. with 5,000 inmates and 1,800 staff members. It is located on an 18,000 acre (73 km²) plantation that was once Angola owned by Isaac Franklin in unincorporated West Feliciana Parish close to the Mississippi border. Angola is surrounded on three sidesby the Mississippi River. The inmates get a little time from farming to pick wood and trees from the land to make things such as rockers, canes , cypress knees and they craft things such as belts,jewelry,paitings purses,wallets , bird houses etc. just about anything they can think of doing with their time. Every weekend in October they have the Angola prison Rodeo and arts display for sale to tourist. This helps keep the prison running. They grow and pick their own food and raise their own livestock to eat. "All done on the prison Farm"
This eagle cane is hand made from one of the prison inmates. It is 38" tall , it is 3" wide x 1 1/2" wide, it is very strong and has a two tone color.
Weight will be 3 pounds after boxing. They dry their wood for 1 year prior to carving . It comes with a rubber tip. Great conversation piece!
