French Defence Main Line Winawer

by John Moles and Kevin Wicker

This is a BRAND NEW Rare VINTAGE paperback book, which is very hard to find, even used.   The book shows very little dealer shelf wear.  This is a great price, and this book is a great opportunity to improve your library.
___________

The Main Line Winawer (1e4 e6 2d4 d5 3Pc3 Bb4 4e5 c5 5a3) is one of the most important volumes in the Contemporary Chess Openings series. The book is designed for players of average club level and above - even GMs will find the book useful. The author discusses in great detail the strategic ideas behind the Winawer and explains exactly what each side should be aiming for in all the important lines. The question of move-order is carefully examined - in many variations the selection of the right move-order will halve the amount of preparation required before the reader can confidently employ the system in practice. Many variations have been re-assured as conventional theoretical judgments often derive from misconceptions of Black's purposes. The author divulges much original analysis, and, with over 3000 books and tournament bulletins from the 1860s to September 1974 having been sifted to provide the main body of the material, very little of significance can have been missed.

Every World Champion has been involved in the 'Winawer controversy'. The defence's greatest exponents have been Nimzowitsch, Botvinnik and Petrosian. John Moles is an Irish International. He played in the chess Olympiads of 1970 and 1972.
