Synopsis
Dara Torres, one of the most inspirational athletes at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, tells how she managed her remarkable comeback to competitive swimming at the age of 41. In the 2000 Sydney Olympics, the 33-year-old Torres won five medals, including two golds, a remarkable feat considering she was the oldest member of the U.S. women's swim team. But she was not finished yet. In 2006, a pair of life-altering events, the birth of her first child and the death of her father from cancer, inspired her to re-ignite her already legendary swimming career. Despite competing against athletes less than half her age, Torres scored three silver medals in Beijing, losing the gold in the 50-meter freestyle by less than the blink of an eye. She has now competed in an astounding five Olympics, more than any other American swimmer, and has captured 12 medals, cementing her place as one of the greatest Olympic athletes of all time.
