V&B Mettlach Russian Fairy Tale Stein #2

Boris Zvorykin's world famous Russian Fairy Tales art was recreated on genuine Mettlach steins in a commemorative edition of 12 steins honoring the 1,000 year anniversary of the Mettlach Tower where Mettlach steins are made.  The complete collection portrays three scenes from each of four fairy tales and each stein was limited in production.  This stein is the second stein in the collection, the second stein in the first Fairy Tale "The Snow Maiden."  The scene on the stein depicts Snegurochka and Lel, the Shepherd boy.

Born in 1872 in Moscow, Zvoryikin was an important master of the old Russian tradition of folklore art.  His country's centuries-old heritage of icon painting is evident in his exquisite style and opulent use of color.  The originals of the scenes shown on this collection of steins are housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.  The authenticity of the steins is emphasized by the gracefully sculpted lid and onion dome styled thumb piece in fine pewter. 

This stein measures 6 1/8" in height from the foot to the tip of the thumb piece.  It is housed in its original box with the certificate of authenticty.  The condition is mint.
