This hardcover book is in very good condition.  It has a ribbon attached to the book to mark your page as you are reading it.  The pages are clean and unmarked.   It was printed in 1997 by New in Chess.  384 pages.

The King is a collection of over 160 articles (news, opinions, essays and annotated games), presented chronologically, from four decades of J.H. Donner’s writing about chess in chess-related and non-chess periodicals.

J. H. Donner was a Dutch chess grandmaster and writer.  Donner was born in The Hague and won the Dutch Championship in 1954, 1957, and 1958.  FIDE, the World Chess Federation, awarded him the GM title in 1959.
