This is a great old cabinet photo of a handsome young man identified as John M. Bails. It was taken at the C. Berner Studio in Charleston, Coles County, Illinois and likely dates to the early 1880's. Online databases indicate he was John Melvin Bails, born August 21, 1858, son of Andrew and Drucilla (King) Bails. He first married Anna Ambler and after her death married Lola Francis. There were children by both marriages. Mr. Bails died in Charleston, Illinois on May 9, 1924. The image is very clear.
