The Solo Automatic door is triggered by a magnet that is worn on a collar of your animal. This magnet collar creates a magnetic field that triggers the door to open.This type of mechanism works in any weather conditions rain snow ect... keeping your pet safe and worry free of what can happen with those battery operated collars that tend to malfunction in adverse weather conditions that could leave your pet stranded outside with no protection.When the Solo detects the pet tag the motor turns a pulley that winds up the cord. The steel locking pin retracts then the door lifts up for the pet to pass. When it is time for the door to come down, it must unwind from this pulley that has drag to it so there is no downward force, very safe and gentle. The last function of the cycle after the door closes is to shoot the steel locking pin back into the Solo 2x4 aluminum frame.

This Dogie cat door is in outstanding working  condition. Only flaws are some minor scratches/nicks from normal use. The bottom plastic insert sleeve does not have the screws in-place but has not affect on performance as it stays in-place on it's own. Door is very clean operates very smoothly can hardly be heard as it opens and shuts.
