This is a hardcover book with a copyright of 1956. Papa Says The story of my sister Bianca by Cena Christopher Draper. Liveright Publishing Corporation, New York.
PAPA SAYS is a wonderfully warm and hilarious novel, written for the young in heart of any age. Miranda Kitt (aged 16) is sure her older sister Bianca (aged 18) is a thing of loveliness and the most glamorous person in the whole world. Naturally, then, when Miranda starts to write her first novel, she chooses Bianca for its heroine. Of course, the other members of the Kitt family are in the story too: Grandpa, an old Indian fighter and skull-collector; Papa, all-wise, and long-suffering; Mama, beautiful, and a talented elocutionist; Miranda's three brothers; Peck, the cook, and mainstay of Miranda's world; and handsome Cousin Reese, who comes to stay with Miranda's family for the summer until some mysterious trouble he is in blows over. Miranda is an extraordinarily enchanting girl; her constant struggles to understand the adult world into which she is just emerging are absurd, yet tenderly serious. You will read her story with amusement, an occasional touch of exasperation, and a twinge of heartache at the memory of your own youth.
