Juzek violins are considered quite the respectable instrument. He was known for making violins from the wood of demolished major buildings like maple beams from a 500 year old church. Tone wood seasoned that long has got to have some interesting tonal qualities. (more)
This is a nice 4/4 violin that is just right for an advanced player or for a string quartet. It was made in Czechoslovakia in 1899. The maker is John Juzek of Prague. It is in very good condition. There is a small repaired crack above the bottom lobe of the right "f" hole, no other issues, cracks or repairs except that of play wear and age. The table has a tight grain throughout. The back is highly figured slab, or one piece back. Sides are nicely figured. the finger board is ebony and rosewood tuning pegs. Both top and back are inlaid with nice line of purfiling. Its volume is medium, with sweet even tones. I think that it will improve in volume when played in. I am no expert on violins. I am an amateur collector and player. Any questions you have I will answer to the best of my ability. I am including a video of this instrument being played. I am a fiddle player, so that's what you will hear. There is no return policy, but if you feel I grossly misrepresenteted this violin I will return your money. You must contact me within 24 hours of receiving the violin. U.S. bidders only.
