The Axiotron 2 microscope is a high-end optical microscope, which is designed and manufactured by Carl Zeiss in Germany. It comprises a sturdy metal stand with precisely machined mechanical parts, high-end optical components and an ergonomic design. The microscope can be controlled via an external control panel as well as per software commands and features a high degree of automation. It provides all common contrast techniques, such as brightfield, darkfield, confocal microscopy, differential interference contrast, i-line and DUV. A dual-beam laser autofocus allows for instant focus correction, also during rapid stage movements. Standard optical interfaces allow the connection of common industry cameras. The Axiotron 2 is the core component of our 150/200 mm inspection tools and also well-suited for OEM applications.

Upgrading the Axiotron 2 with the CSM vis-uv tube allows observation in the real time confocal mode with visual or ultraviolet light (365 nm). A special feature of this system is extreme extension of the depth of focus (EDOF) by combination with an optical element called chromat C.
