You've read about natural disasters and emergencies around the world (earthquakes, wildfires, tsunamis, hurricanes, tornados, and blizzards, just to name a few). You know it would be smart to prepare for such emergencies by storing a little food and maybe some other basic supplies. But, where do you start?
The ShelfReliance "Harvest" food storage rotational shelving system is a GREAT place to start or expand your emergency preparedness/food storage planning and (most importantly) implementation.
- You simply buy the stuff you probably already buy--canned goods--in the brands and types you know your family likes and store them in these very heavy-duty, easy-to-assemble shelves.
- Your increased storage space (you can put a LOT of cans into the Harvest system, up to 600, but varies with configuration) also allows you to start buying more groceries during "case lot" sales because you now have an efficient, effective way of storing it all.
- The "first-in/first-out" storage methodology greatly simplifies your inventory management.
So, what is "rotational food storage shelving?"
- Basically, you load canned goods into the front of the appropriate "track," and pull them out from the exit point just below.
- Your canned goods are used in the order you bought them, helping you manage food expiration dates.
- Every time you remove a can, all the following cans roll & rotate a quarter turn---the optimum way to store canned goods.
Many families (including our own) use the "Harvest" as a central part of a larger food storage/emergency preparedness program, but you can just start with the "Harvest," fill it with canned goods (all at once or gradually), and immediately you'll be better prepared for any emergencies or natural disasters, and can build your own program from there, as much or as little as you like.
Here are the basic dimensions & stats:
- 6' tall, 3' wide, 2' deep
- Holds up to 600 cans
- Front loading & space efficient (sets flush against any wall)
- Store all sizes of cans, from small tuna cans to soup cans to fruits cans all the way up to those large #10 cans like you buy at Costco or Sam's Club
- Comes with 58 food label magnets (goes right on the front of the metal racks). Some are preprinted with standard categories like "Chicken Noodle Soup" or "Peaches", and some are blank so you can add your own categories.
We use these shelves ourvelves--and LOVE them. We've stored a whole bunch of food in far less space than before...we're storing the foods our family already likes and eats...and we're able to buy food at discounted case lot prices...these things REALLY WORK!!!
- We've had neighbors and friends come over just to see our shelves and admire the storage room space we've reclaimed--and then ask where they could buy some.
You'll receive two boxes for each shelving unit, and it took us about 20-30 minutes to put it together--- then we took another 20 minutes to customize the tracks to our personal preferences (these shelving units are very, very adjustable) and add the food label magnets (included with picture, see sample picture in this ad) to fit our needs. We then started loading cans...it really is just that simple, with full instructions included in the shipped boxes.
Remember, this product utilizes "first-in/first-out"storage rack technologies. That is, your canned goods automatically rotate so that you use the oldest cans first: SO THE FIRST CANS PUT IN ARE THE FIRST CANS THAT COME OUT FOR USE FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL TRACK!!
- Many other food storage racks or systems (especially those made at home with plans from the internet), do not offer this feature, and can actually make your food storage program much harder than it needs to be.
- Stick with "first-in, first-out" storage systems for canned goods...it will simplify your life considerably
We're only shipping this to the 48 CONUS states...sorry Alaska, Hawaii and U.S. Territories. Shipping insurance is INCLUDED at no charge to protect you, the buyer.
PayPal payment preferred, and you can use most credit cards through PayPal.
- We also accept most credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, American Express) directly, through our Merchant credit card account; please contact us at rockymtnhome@comcast.net for instructions.
