Handcrafted NZ TSS Earnslaw Steamship Model Ferry Boat 25"
This high quality, highly detailed, expert level, TSS Earnslaw Steamship Ferry Model is Brand New, fully assembled and ready for display (not a kit).
This NZ TSS Earnslaw Steamship Model was specially designed & built by the plank on frame method (joining multiple small pieces of wood like Rosewood, Mahogany, Teak and other exotic tropical wood together on the hull). The Steamship model is built exactly to scale and painted as the original TSS Earnslaw Steam Boat was with many details. The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish.
TSS Earnslaw Steamship was launched in 1912 in New Zealand and is still in operation. It is one of the few remaining coal fired steamships operating in the southern hemisphere and is one of the oldest tourist attractions in Central Otago sailing the waters of Lake Wakatipu.
Known as "The Lady Of The Lake", she was a busy vessel for the New Zealand Railways transporting sheep, cattle and passengers in the high country. Almost scrapped in 1968 she was rescued by Fiordland Travel and became a tourist attraction.
Famous passengers include Queen Elizabeth, Prince Phillip, the King & Queen of Belgium and the Prince of Thailand. She also appears in the movie "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull".
This 95 year old steamship is still sailing strong and operates 11 months of the year!
The model measures 25" (63.5cm) long from bow to stern. It's a fabulous boat model that will be a conversation piece for any room, office or restaurant.
