The film charts how he rose through the church hierarchy as a resolute but flexible leader, finally becoming the first Slavic pope ever elected. Pope John Paul II restored the renown of the Catholic Church around the world through his travels and his theological brilliance. THE LIFE OF POPE JOHN PAUL II is hosted by NBC News correspondent Keith Morrison, a respected reporter known for his coverage of important world events like the Yom Kippur War and the Tiananmen Square rebellion.
