The soundtrack to the comedy HOW TO BE A PLAYER, whose title Def Jam admirably declined to misspell, is packed from top to bottom with some of the biggest stars of hip-hop. Tracks from Foxy Brown, Redman, Master P, Too Short, Eightball and many more make this album a must for either the casual hip-hop fan or the hardcore rap obsessive. Highlights of HOW TO BE A PLAYER include "It's A Cold Day," where Too Short is joined by the godfather of funk, George Clinton, and EPMD's "Never Seen Before." Context is provided throughout courtesy of Goldie's atmospheric intro, interludes and outro. This soundtrack stands up as a substantive hip-hop collection, with or without its cinematic companion piece.
