This is a fine looking Navajo Gallup Throw Weaving, with a unique and complex serrated chevron, diamond and cross type pattern composed of red, yellow, a unique grey-blue, as well as beige, brown and grey upon a clean white field. An expertly woven Navajo Rug, Table Top Cover or Wall Hanger, made with a classic multi-colored and bright hand spun and dyed, and or naturally carded Native Sheep Wools. The beige, brown and white are hand spun and hand carded natural sheep wool colors.
Age range is approximately 1930-1950.
The size of this textile is 36" X 18", with a warp of 10 and a weft of 24- a beautifully woven piece! 100% wool weft and Trading Post cotton warp (as is typical with Gallup Throws).
CONDITION: NO holes, NO Bleeding of colors, NO stains, NO Moth nibbles/grazing to weft, NO worn/tired wool, NO notable Fading.
SELVAGE: Side Selvage warps 100% intact/present. The Top Selvage is a braid is grey wool yarns and 100% intact. The Bottom Selvage is twist of red and white yarns (see pics) and 100% intact. The corners are present and in good shape (see pics).
