Arch Whitehouse was an American youngster who sailed to England to enlist
in the British Army, transferred to the RFC to be an aerial gunner and then
went on to be a scout pilot flying Sopwith Camels.

In the years following the Great War he went on to be one of the genre's most
prolific writers; penning dozens of stories for the pulp action flying magazines
of the 1930s and '40s before writing a couple dozen books ranging from WWI
Aviation histories to young adult fiction to full-blown novels. 

"  Heroes Of The Sunlit Sky"   is Whitehouse's encyclopedic volume on the famous
aces of WWI.  Arranged by nation, the author presents biographic sketches of the
great fliers.   This one not only makes for a fascinating read, but serves as a
wonderful reference work as well.
