FLAT RIM AURORA SAUCER
Approximately 7 1/4" Wide
This MacKenzie-Childs piece is from a complete (over 60 pieces)collection that has never been used. The seller will be listing all pieces over the next couple of weeks. Each piece has been displayed only since 1990-1994 and is in excellent condition.
MacKenzie-Childs is located on a 65-acre former dairy farm overlooking Cayuga Lake in the heart of the Finger Lakes region. The grounds — open to the public — house the production studio, a Second-Empire farmhouse, open for tours, and a retail shop filled with MacKenzie-Childs tableware, home furnishings, and gifts from around the world.
The picturesque farm is also home to a small herd of Scottish Highland cattle, dozens of birds roosting in the Gothic Revival-style Chicken Palace, a duck pond, a former Cornell horse barn, a 1930’s greenhouse, spectacular and ever-changing gardens, and plenty of hay fields.
Soon after acquiring the farm, MacKenzie-Childs turned the dairy barn into a working production studio where today handmade, hand-decorated majolica pottery, tile, furniture, and home furnishings are crafted by our talented artisans. The production studio includes design, clay molding, firing, painting, furniture and upholstery-making areas and employs over 100 artisans on site.
Handmade in Aurora ---- Time-honored crafts—producing ceramics and home furnishings—thrive in the 21st century on a small farm in rural, central New York. From plates to planters, teapots to tureens, MacKenzie-Childs designs are alive with individuality.
Since 1983, MacKenzie-Childs has made handcrafted ceramics, each piece a one-of-a-kind collectible. The company also designs and hand-decorates furniture and other home furnishings.
The first step in the process is design. The designers, inspired by the beauty of the deep lakes and rolling meadows, flowering hillsides and crisp clear air that surround us, imagine and create designs and shapes for ceramics. Their designs are brought to life with deft hands and art by the artisans in the Aurora studio.
Each piece created by the artisans holds the surprise and joy of the unexpected. Turn over a ceramic mug or platter or chair and you will see the stamps or marks of the artisans who contributed to its creation, to each step in the process.
As you may well have guessed, the most important element we work with is not clay or wood or paint, or fabric. It is our artisans. Talented and skilled, the immense pride and their signature individuality is happily evident on every piece that bears their stamp and their name.
That individuality, the evidence of the artisan's hand, is what makes each piece a one-of-a kind work of beauty and grace. Stains and glazes are painted on by hand, not by machine. You may notice variations in the density and depth of the color. This evidence of the artisan's hand is highly valued by collectors: No two pieces are identical. Set a table with MacKenzie-Childs plates and their variations are sure to please and delight your guests. In the 21st century, where standardization and uniformity are hard to escape, MacKenzie-Childs hopes you delight in the unique personality and individuality of their timeless craft.
Please review the pictures carefully. I am not offering a return as MacKenzie-Childs pieces are handmade and each differs slightly. The pieces have never been used. Though they have been wiped off, they also have not been washed to insure that they are not damaged in any way.
Though I have not shown a discount for shipping of multiple items, I will certainly work with you to ship purchases together if possible using Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes. My primary concern is insuring that your purchase is packaged well.
