Offered is a difficult-to-find Russian Edition of THE HOBBIT by J.R.R. Tolkien and illustrated by  Mikhail Belomlinsky.

This is a 1989 printing of the Russian 1976 edition, which was the first Russian translation of Tolkien's The Hobbit.  Hardcover.  9 1/4" x 6 1/2" in size.  253 pages of text, plus table of contents at rear of book, along with a short Tolkien biography.   All text is in Russian using the Cyrillic alphabet.

Although many foreign editions of Tolkien's works use J.R.R. Tolkien's own paintings as the illustrations, the Russian editions tend to utilize fantastic original artwork in their versions.

Profusely illustrated with 8 full page illustrations and numerous text illustrations by Russian artist Mikhail Belomlinsky, this book is a visual treat which doesn't have to be read to be appreciated! 

A wonderful find for the Tolkien completist!

Bound in illustrated paper over boards, all four corners are bumped and turn inward slightly, with some paper fraying at inner edges of corners.  The rear cover board exhibits a bit of blue staining and a tiny spot of paper loss where a price sticker was once attached.  The white cloth spine with black lettering displays very minor shelf wear at head and foot.  Interior pages are extremely crisp and clean with no markings or writing whatsoever.  The endpapers are fully illustrated in color.

Shipping will be $4.00 by Priority mail in the U.S. and actual cost elsewhere.
