SNAKE EYES, by Weifenbach and Gossage, SEALED, "GRASS"

Offered here SEALED under publisher's wraps and in AS NEW condition is John Gossage and Terri Weifenbach's “Snake Eyes,” published in 2002 by Loosestrife Editions. The book comes with one of four color prints from Terri Weifenbach, tipped-in on the cover: “Grass,” “Apple,” “Bird,” or “Purple Flowers.” John Gossage and Terri Weifenbach have both had long, accomplished careers of their own in photography. Gossage was once a student of Lisette Model and Bruce Davidson, and Weifenbach's numerous publications, including some of the earliest One Picture Books from Nazraeli Press, are scarce due to their immense popularity. In “Snake Eyes,” Weifenbach's color photographs, mostly still-lives, are shown in beautiful full-size images next to smaller black-and-whites from Gossage, illustrating the process of selecting an image to be taken. Gossage often has multiple images on a page, choosing multiple angles to focus on as Weifenbach narrows her approach to a single, perfectly shot color photo. The two artists appear in dialogue about what makes a photograph, their contrasted styles presenting two radically different approaches. The book also features an introductory essay by Gossage. Married at the time they created “Snake Eyes,” the pair have since separated, making it extremely unlikely that we will ever see a book quite like this one again. Limited to 125 copies of each C-print cover, this book has quickly become a collectible.

This is a SEALED hardcover book in AS NEW condition with cloth boards and a tipped-in C-print on the cover, with no dust jacket, as issued. It contains 68 pages with 53 color and 33 duotone photographs, as well as an essay by John Gossage. The book measures 13.5 x 18 inches.
