Offering a gorgeous pattern, magnificent and fully hand painted porcelain cabinet reticulated plate, featuring a beautiful center bouquet with vivid, brilliant multicolored flowers, and lavish gold details on pure white, in excellent condition! This signed Carl Thieme confection measures a full 7" 1/2" in diameter, and was made as a luxury display plate around 1901.
Dresden maker Carl Thieme who, along with the other decorating studios of the late 19th early 20th century like Lamm Hirsch and Klemm, produced quality porcelains inspired by the Meissen Dresden pieces of the 18th century.
THIS PLATE IS JUST A MAGNIFICENT CONFECTION AS YOU CAN SEE!
I have sold, and this is a fact, similar porcelain plates and compotes by makers such as Sevres from France, Minton and Worcester from England, with these same type of fantastic Rococo pierced reticulated and hand painted work.
Formal porcelain ware, like this china plate, are a Gilded Age reminder of how prized ceramic items, made by Meissen in the Sevres style, (formal stylistic comparisons are discussed in many publications on ceramics) captured the imagination of the upper classes.
