Department 56 Porcelain Candle Crown-"The Cheshire Cat" Alice in Wonderland.  Candle snuffers were used in Victorian England to put out the candles at the end of a meal.  The English used finely sculpted figurine snuffers to adorn their tables and to extinguish their candles.  The early snuffers were made of metal until the Victorian artisans began to craft extinguishers that reflected the victorian society.  The Department 56 Candle Crown Collections are hand-painted.  This item is new and is # 56-50007.  It includes the designer box and sleeve. 4" H  x 3" W.
