Offered this evening is another piece of VINTAGE GLASS that I've had for several years!! As stated in previous auctions, I tended to buy pieces based on their patterns...even if they happened to have a chip or other flaw. This BLUE CARNIVAL MUG is no exception. The pattern "ORANGE TREE" is FABULOUS...the only issue is that there is a small chip on the base of the mug. If you are a PURIST, this definitely won't do for you...but if you just collect for PATTERN or BEAUTY...then this just might be a piece to add to your other BEAUTIES!!
** Made by FENTON ART GLASS COMPANY and best known in CARNIVAL GLASS, this pattern was made in a wide range of shapes in other types of glass, as well. CRYSTAL and COLORED PIECES date to the late teens, especially in the MUG shape...p. 186, STANDARD ENCYCLOPEDIA OF PRESSED GLASS, THIRD EDITION by Bill Edwards and Mike Carwile, 2003.
** MUG stands 3.5" tall and measures 3 5/8" across the top
** BEAUTIFUL OPALESCENT COLOR on COBALT BLUE GLASS
** ORANGE TREE pattern
** GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION!! As mentioned, there is a chip in the base of the mug. Otherwise, this is a BEAUTIFUL example of the ORANGE TREE pattern in BLUE CARNIVAL!! No other issues of note.

VERY GOOD: Garments that have tears, stains or deterioration in small numbers. Defects still are not immediately noticeable and do not detract from the overall appearance of the garment.
GOOD: Garments that have a number of tears, stains or other deterioration that DO detract from the appearance of the garment.
FAIR or POOR: Garments that have a large number of tears, stains, and/or deterioration, or garments that have only one flaw, but one that is quite noticeable; may be incomplete. Little value as a collectible, but may be useful for study.
