Mahogany Ten Piece Formal Dining Room Set Suite

Complete matched dining room suite, 11 pieces in all.  I believe this set to be mahogany and manufactured no later than 1950.  Double pedestal table with built in pop-up leaf and custom glass top, six shield back chairs, china cabinet, large sideboard/buffet, smaller sideboard/buffet. Overall condition very good with wear commensurate with 60+ years of use.  No broken or missing pieces of trim or torn upholstery, all good solid pieces ready to accommodate your Thanksgiving dinner plans. 

Large Sideboard

37H x 66L x 20D   Two drawers 30L, top drawer 5H and bottom drawer 10H. Top drawer has a divider about a third of the way over from the left.  Doors on either side of drawers, 15H x 12W – no shelves inside. There is a faint white ring on the left side of the top (pictured in closeup).  Hepplewhite-style pulls, stepped out profile, picture frame moulding, fluted columns – all of these details and more match between large server, small server, and china cabinet. My camera added some white circles to the overall photo of this piece which are apparent on the front of the server when the photo is enlarged, please disregard them.

Small Sideboard

37H x 35L x 17D  Two drawers 30L, top drawer 5H and bottom drawer 4H – no dividers.

China Cabinet

69H x 35L x 17D   Glass doors with mahogany grillwork,  two shelves behind, each with plate grooves. One drawer 5H, double doors on bottom open to single space, no shelves. Again the camera decided to embellish the photo with white circles on the bottom and left side of the piece, please ignore these.

Table

30H x 42w x expands from 60L to 72L  Double pedestal table with Duncan Phyfe style legs, brass caps on feet. Table expands from 60L to 72L by means of a built in leaf that pops up smoothly and locks in place, then tucks away until needed again.  Table top is oblong shaped (rounded rectangle but definitely not oval) and comes with a custom made glass table top to fit at 60L. Table top has some white spots (pictured) but are much less noticeable with the glass on, some other scratches, cracks and marks but the finish is intact.

Chairs

Five shield back armless chairs and one head-of-table chair. Currently these seats are covered in a gold damask sort of material which is in good condition with no stains or rips.  Seat covers are easy to change, just four screws to remove on the underside. Three of the chairs have had professional repairs to the back splats, another one looks like it could use a little glue + clamp.  These repairs are very hard to photograph, but one has been included and is indicative of the others. The chairs themselves are solid to sit on with no creaking, wobbling, etc.  Leg style matches that of the two servers.

This set is available for pick up or delivery at buyer’s expense and arrangement in Southeastern PA - Spring City 19475.  Convenient access to PA/NJ/DE/NY/MD. This set has never been refinished and shows scratches and signs of use and wear but overall in very good condition. Could use a dust, polish and touch up with a Minwax pen. If you are looking for a like-new or excellent condition set without doing those things, this is not for you. Please ask questions before bidding, assume nothing and ask everything!
