Simon Banks and Kevin Grenfell are two nationally recognised musicians who, in 2000, formed a duet. Both artists had met regularly over the years whilst working together in other ensembles and it was as a result of this that they decided to explore the obvious musical chemistry that has made “This Is What We Do” the high calibre of entertainment that one hears from them today. Whilst both performers are well known and respected in the world of jazz, their musical styles embrace many genres.
During a performance one can expect to hear an eclectic mix ranging from the rags of Scott Joplin to the ballads of Dean Martin and from Boogie-Woogie to the Beatles, all performed with skill, enthusiasm and an almost irrepressible humour which is a particular feature of their live appearances.
Simon and Kevin are both vocalists and multi-instrumentalists, offering a compact and affordable entertainment package to suit almost any occasion. Their CV as “This Is What We Do” encompasses appearances at most major jazz clubs and festivals in the UK and Europe; radio and television appearances; theatres and of course too many parties, private functions and weddings to mention here.
