Þ       About CD-R’s.  We do not make our own CD-R’s for sale on eBay.  However, sometimes labels produce CD-R’s as advances (or “Acetates” as called by some sellers) and smaller artists or DJ’s (such as those self releasing their material) produce CD-R’s; this is rare though.

CD Condition Rating Scale for Artwork:

(SS) New – Still Sealed – New Retail Old Store Stock

(NM) Used – Near Mint – artwork has very little to no wear at all

(VG) Used – Very Good – artwork has light wear at most

(G) Used – Good – artwork has fairly significant

(ACC) Used – Acceptable – we rarely sell titles in this condition; if a title falls into this condition category we will detail it thoroughly.

CD Condition Rating Scale for Disc:

(SS) New – Still Sealed – New Retail Old Store Stock

(NM) Used – Near Mint – disc is clean, no scratches, scuffs or smudges

(VG) Used – Very Good – light wear on the disc, will still play without any problems

(G) Used – Good – light scratching, smudges or scuffs. Disc should still play without any problem

(ACC) Used – Acceptable – we rarely sell titles in this condition; if a title falls into this condition category we will detail it thoroughly.

KEY

Þ       #x CD = The number multiple discs in a set.

Þ       ADV = Advance – A version of the CD created by the Record Label/Artist before the release of the retail version to promote the CD to retail, radio and/or press outlets.  Advance artwork is sometimes limited or different on versions such as these do to money constraints or uncompleted status.

Þ       ACE = Acetate – A test CD-R edition used for promotion similar to an ‘Advance’

Þ       CC = Copy-Controlled – Added software to the CD that prevents copying and sometimes ripping of a CD.

Þ       CD-R = Recordable CD – A CD that can be created on a home computer.

Þ       CO = Cut-Out – Hole-punched artwork/upc, a drilled case and/or artwork, a sliced/notched spine, a marked UPC and/or clipped artwork are all types of cutouts.

Þ       IMP = Import – A CD that is produced in a country other than the USA.  To us, an “import”.

Þ       MINI LP = A CD edition replicating the original vinyl release package.

Þ       OG = Original – The very first issue of a title.

Þ       OOP = Out Of Print – An issue or version no longer in print.

Þ       PC = From a private collection - No where on the entire CD are there cuts, marker lines, promo stamps, stickers, or anything like that.

Þ       PRO/PR = Promo = A CD issued to various types of industry members for purposes of promotion; usually not available at retails outlets.

Þ       RMSTR = Remaster – A reissued edition that has been newly mixed.

Þ       SDTK/OST = Soundtrack

Þ       RC = Record club - these titles are from a mail order record club such as BMG Music Service (BMG), Columbia House (CRC) or similar service. Barcodes can be different or non existent on these titiles.

Þ       ECD = Enhanced CD – these titles usually contain music video(s), wallpaper or some other video content

Þ       CLN = Clean/Edited – These titles are albums that have been edited and curse words have been removed.

Þ       Artwork – Like with Vinyl LP’s, artwork is such an important element of an ‘Album’.

Þ       No compression! – Unlike MP3’s, CD’s offer the listener the true musical intent of the artist & producer. 

Þ       Create your own MP3’s – Unlike MP3’s, CD’s offer you the option of creating your own MP3’s while still having a physical copy!

Þ       No need for backups! – Hard-drives crash. Files get corrupted. If this happens all you need to do is re-rip your CD.

Þ       Price – Often times it’s cheaper to buy a CD than it is to download it.  For the price of downloading just a couple of songs, you can own physical CD & make better quality files yourself – all the while owning a backup.

Þ       Why wouldn’t you want to own the entire CD for nearly the same price as downloading just a few tracks?
