"Marine" does not always mean "Waterproof". Marine stereos are built to be outdoors and are, at the very least, weather resistant. This means moisture and corrosion resistant circuit boards, UV protection for exposure to the sun, etc. Weather resistant marine stereos also prevent water intrusion in varying degrees, but they are not waterproof and water inside the unit will definitely do damage. If you plan on your stereo getting direct water splash or spray you may want to look for a stereo specifically listed as waterproof.

This item is technically labeled as “factory remanufactured” which is not the same thing as “refurbished”. My Rep. described it to me as, "like new status, board-level part replacement". This is not a unit that sold and was returned for repairs, it was simply classified as remanufactured because a problem was found during manufacturing/quality control and then corrected. It comes in factory original packaging with accessories. No real difference from new.
