Buy It Now in my eBay Store: If you were to choose a key, then chart every note in that key on the neck, you would see 5 distinct hand positions. The TENOR BANJO SLIDE RULE is a sliding transparency over a printed banjo neck. The black dots are at the 5th, 7th and 12th frets. The key is set at the top of the slide rule. For instance, you could set your slide rule to A minor (which is the same notes as: C Major, D minor with a Major 6th, or G Major with a minor 7th). You could play along with some music in the key of A minor using any hand position. Usually, the first chord of a song is the key of the song and the key of which you could set your slide rule. If you know the first chord of a recording, you could play or improvise in that key. Every note showing would be in that key, no matter which color hand position you play. Try it. These 5 sequential hand positions are not arbitrary, but occur from the dynamics of the banjo and of modes; color is added for a good visual effect. Made in America. This slide rule comes with the 'FIVE POSITION MUSICIAN' brochure showing 'the traditional 7 hand positions' and a bonus pentatonic 3 fingers per string position.
