This theme chess set is based on Christian Europe's military conquests to reclaim the Holy Land from the Arab world. There were 9 major crusades spanning from the 11th through the 13th century in which the Christian and Muslim armies fought for control of the Holy Land.

This is such a beautiful set that, even when you are not playing, it deserves to be left out.

Some of our chess sets (like this one) do not come with a board on the theory that you should not be forced to buy a board if you already have one.

So, we give the choice. You can use your original board, or purchase one of the boards from the pictures. We believe these boards match the item

selling very well.  These are fine painted pieces. A great item for a collection or a perfect gift for any occassion.
