Hello and welcome to my auction. Today I am offering a VERY VERY nice vintage Barbie Here Comes the Bride. This little set is VERY hard to find, especially in this condition. It is only missing the bouquet and the garter. I intended to purchase a repro one on ebay, however, I don't have room to display this, as I would have liked, so I am offering it for sale. The original garter not difficult to find on ebay, as the same one was used for other Barbie bridal sets, as I understand.
First, the dress is as near mint as I have ever seen. For the new owner, I would highly recommend that you do NOT store it flat, rather, gently stuff it about half full with white tissue. The reason is, fibers can break and leave a permanent crease in the sides, if they are folded. You will receive it stuffed, as I believe it should be stored, or displayed on a doll or form. It is all original and there are no stains or marks, loose threads, tagged correctly, and all-around beautiful! Lace is white and bright.
Second, the veil is super nice-NO holes in the tulle, and the little ribbons are very nice and firmly attached. One of the little ribbons needs to be retied, but it is securely in place, and a gentle touch could restore the bow with no trouble.
I would store the veil either flat, or wrapped around a tube to prevent the tulle from breaking over time. As I inspected the veil carefully, I did notice a TINY dark spot about 1/8 " in diameter. It is a light yellow color, and I do not know what caused it, nor did I try to clean it. That is the ONLY thing I could say that is wrong with it. (And I'm being picky).
Several years ago, I took a class in storing, restoring and preserving vintage textiles. Folding is NOT a good thing for them, and care must be taken to preserve their beauty and appearance.
A pair of long white gloves is included, as is the correct white closed toe pumps. One glove is slightly yellowed, however, replacing it would not be a problem, as long white gloves are all over ebay. The shoes are perfect.
