The original Label is still on the watch and reads RRS99JX-9.

The Seiko / Lorus Website indicates:

Question #1     The V501 of the V501-X294 on the back of the case is the caliber of the battery SR626SW.

The battery in it works and has been stored with the stem out to save the power.

Question # 2    The 50M/5BAR is water resistant for: 

Accidental contact with water, such as splashes and rain.

Swimming and taking a shower.
