DVD:

We include a DVD called "The Way to Fly" because its the best
out there for helping first time kiters to learn the basics needed to
progression on to other kite sports. The dvd was done by Chris Moore,
who is an Instructor-Trainer, ( The Instructor of the instructors! ).
Another popular dvd called "progressions beginner" is also good,
but leaves out all of the needed fundamentals that we feel are
essential to anyone who is starting at the beginning.

KITE SIZE

When shopping for your first kite , Trainer Kite, its important to know the
"True Size of the kite you're buying. The majority of the Trainer kites have a
name that you would think is the kites size, but in many cases its just a name.
The kite is called the Hydra 300. The 300 refers to the wingspan in cm's.
The "True Size" is 2.6m ( square meters ).

Kites with a True size of approximately 2.5m to 3.5 are what we refer to as
Traction-Trainers because they overlap 2 catagories. Trainer kites ( 1.5 to 3.5 )
and Traction kites ( 2.5 and larger ).

Trainer kites are kites that are small enough to use by 1st time kiters.
Traction kites are kites that can PULL!
2.5 to 3.5 are perfect since they have the pull but also small enough to use
for learning.
A 4m kite is NOT a trainer because its too large, falling outside of the
trainer catagory.

Most Trainer kites are designed only for use on land. The Hydra is a unique
trainer because its amphibious! Use on land just like any other trainer, or take
it to the water.

NOTE: When you seen someone "kiteboarding" on the water, in most cases they are
use a kite in the 9m to 13m range. ( some as large as 17m, ). A small 2.5 , 3, or 3.5
is too small for "kiteboarding" , but perfect for use as a trainer.
Trainers range in price from $150 to $350. Inflatable Kiteboarding specific kites average
around $1,000. Just the bar and lines along on the full size kite average over $300!

The choice for most people is
2-line, 3-line, 3-line- Amphibious, or 4-line

Most choice the 3-line, like the "HQ Rush 300-PRO". ( $218.49 )

2-line kites are "ok" and an option if a 3-line kite is not within your budget
or if shopping for a much smaller 2m.

2-LINE , 3-LINE, or 4-LINE ?

If you're on a super tight budget, 2-line is the cheapest.
4 lines are the common on 4m , 5m , and larger kites.
For your 1st Kite or for a kite under 4m, 3-line is the BEST!
You get the "reverse relaunching" feature that is available with 4 lines,
with a price and simplicity that closer to a 2-line model.
The best of both worlds.

HANDLES or CONTROL BAR?

Handles are the cheapest, and perfect for a stunt kite.
For traction kites, Trainers, and for Board sports a Control bar is what you want!
