Potassium Permanganate capsules and accessories

This is a means to start fire using Potassium Permanganate as one of the two substances needed to start a chemical reaction fire during a survival situation or just while hanging out and wanting to start a camp fire the “McGyver” or “Survivorman” way. Les Stroud used potassium permanganate to start fire with in one of his episodes. The 500 mg. capsules are filled with potassium permanganate.

These capsules can be used to start a chemical reaction type fire when mixed with antifreeze (a source of glycols) or glycerin.

To cause this reaction, open up a capsule and pour the powder onto some dry leaves, grass or a cotton ball. Then place two to three drops of the liquid onto it. It slowly starts to smolder and then will ignite with a flame. This does allow enough time to place the remainder of your tinder onto the flames in order to get a good fire base going.

I have seen others selling variations of this system here on eBay. I thought, how can I make this even better? Pouring antifreeze from the jug into its lid isn’t a precise measurement. Its messy and you don’t need that much.

What I have come up with is this:

Granted some fire making tools are really cool to use and are really effortless. Show somebody how to make and use a bow drill properly and they have learned a really useful skill and boosted their confidence. Some of this skills take a little longer to master than others. Some work better under the right conditions. Some can find it difficult to use tools like flint and strikers properly. Sometimes the “McGyver” or “Survivorman” approach to making a fire has its place too.

I will only ship a single order at a time. I have prepackage these items as individual units which will contain the above listed items. I will not ship antifreeze or glycerin. The 1 oz. bottles of potassium permanganate are taped/sealed closed. Keep these capsules dry.The cotton balls will be shipped inside of a ziplock baggie and "dry". The plastic bottle for refilling and the pipette are new and have never been filled with anything.

Potassium Permanganate is an oxidizer and can be poisonous if consumed. Keep it out of your eyes and do not inhale. Please keep it out of reach of infants and children. It can stain hands or other items it comes in contact with. It can have a reaction with certain metals. Potassium Permanganate is in a powdered/crystallized form and is purple in color. It has many uses such as being used as a disinfectant, for water treatment or used to kill algae in fish ponds. Only use it outdoors when using as a fire starter.
