Have an old camera lying around? Why not bring new life to your point and shoot camera by converting it to an infrared camera.

  In our infrared conversions, we remove the Hot Mirror and replace it with a 720nm Infrared Pass Filter. This lets handheld infrared pictures be taken with no need for a tripod. The flash still works which makes even indoor pictures possible. In most point and shoot cameras the focus still works great in infrared. The lcd screen shows the infrared picture as it will come out allowing for easy composition, where even most IR converted DSLR's don't show the image until after it is taken.

How to see if we can convert your camera

First check our other auctions and see if we offer a conversion service specifically for your camera.

If we don't offer your camera, the next step is to see if your camera is sensitive to IR light. This can be done by pointing a tv remote at the camera and pressing some of the buttons. The brighter the light the better the end result will be.

Check the age and MP count of your camera. Many older cameras of 2MP and below have a fused internal filter that is not removable. Many newer cameras, usually 10MP plus, that offer "image stabilization" are also not convertable because the ccd is housed inside an intricate set of motors that steady it.

After considering the above, send us a messege and we will let you know if we've had any experience with that particular camera.

Camera should be sent in a well packaged box along with a battery if it does not use AA's as well as a charger and USB cable for testing purposes.

We will try to convert any camera we receive. Our turnover time is usually 2-5 days, depending on what day of the week we receive the camera. Shipping is with USPS Priority mail.

If we are unable to convert your camera, we will return the camera and issue a refund.

Please note that there is no way to adjust the autofocus system in a point and shoot camera, and camera's ability to autofocus in IR will vary by camera, although all should focus fine with larger F numbers and in landscape mode.

Although we take every possible precaution and work in a static and dust free environment with grounded equipment, there is always a very small risk when working on a camera we have not opened before. By purchasing this service, buyer acknowledges this risk and agrees to not hold us liable for damage to the equipment. In the case that this does happen, we will issue a full refund and return the camera.
