A sly, witty mystery features two extraordinary sisters--one a master chef and the other a renowned actress--who juggle husbands, lovers, the Hollywood media, and their own identities to catch a thief. By the author of Frost the Fiddler.

Industry reviews
"This book has so many delightfully suspicious characters and such a plethora of potential motives, it's virtually impossible to condense. Plus, the main character, head chef Emily Major, has a Hollywood actress for an identical twin, so no one is even sure who the target of the crazed assassin really is."
Rapport  (09/13/1996)

"A head rush worthy of a Betty Crocker's Deluxe."
Kirkus Reviews  (12/01/1995)

"Boston architect Ross Major fears he is losing his beloved wife, Emily. Her distant and preoccupied behavior makes him suspect she is having an affair. Chef Emily Major finds herself torn between two men. While she loves her husband Ross, Guy Witten, owner of the Cafe Presto, has struck a passionate spark within her. Emily decides, however, that her brief affair must end, so she leaves Cafe Presto to work at Diavolina's restaurant." Emily has no sooner started working, when her famous twin sister Philippa Banks breezes into town. Philippa is currently having an affair with Ross' partner Dana Forbes. When Dana falls over dead in the middle of a meal at Diavolina's, the sisters get their first inkling of the trouble to come. Unbeknownst to Emily, self-centered Philippa has met Guy and is now pretending to be her sister so she can continue the affair. When Guy is murdered, and another chef dies after sampling a drink meant for Philippa, the twins realize that Philippa is the main target. Due to Philippa's recent facial injury, Emily has been filling in for her at public functions, thereby making herself a prime target. Ross meanwhile is suffering from major guilt pangs as he realizes that he is indirectly responsible for Guy's death. Ross has uncovered at least one of the individuals killing off the various parties, but if he is going to save his wife's life, what he really needs to discover is the motive. "Devil's Food" is chock full of flawed, selfish and desperate people who will do anything to protect their interests. Ms. Weber has written a hard-edged yet witty novel full of incredibly complex characters and motives for murder.
