Report item Hi there. You are bidding on a one of a kind Modern Sideshow Gaff of a deformed Human Fetal skull. The term 'gaff' means 'realistic fake,' such as the famous FeeJee Mermaid displayed by P.T. Barnum, and numerous attractions in Sideshows, Dimestore Museums, Ripley's Believe It or Not museums, etc. This fetal skull is not real, but it sure appears to be.
This skull was cast from a mold taken from a REAL, deformed 7 Month old fetal skull, and is made out of a hard polyresin/bone powder. It is highly detailed, and is deformed in that it has extra coronal fontanelles(suture) giving it two parietal and two occipital bones which were fusing together at the time of this pre-infant's death. Everyone thinks this one is real-the skull is highly detailed, quite aged and very realistic. This is a very beautiful fetal skull replica, and is a big hit with visitors to my ODDITORIUM.
The mold used to make this item has been broken, and the original fetal skull is too fragile for me to make another one. There are VERY FEW of these in existence(less than 8,most of which were sold long ago) and I will not be making any more. Get it while you can.
It measures approx. 3 inches wide, 3 inches tall, and 4 and 1/2 inches from back to front. Decent fetal skull replicas are rare, hard to find and quite expensive-ESPECIALLY ones with any deformities. The going rate for a decent resin fetal skull replica is at least $90.00 or more, and this is much better looking than one's you'd find at a medical supplier- This gaff was made using old-world gaffing techniques using modern molding/casting/forenzic techniques with an attention to detail. This skull is sturdy and designed to withstand the ups and downs of the bumpy road of the travelling sideshow. You won't be disappointed with this highly realistic skull.
