This is a unique use of a Moroccan One Rial silver coin which was used to make a silver spoon and was obtained in the 1950's. It consists of a Moroccan one rial coin with date of 1329 (1911). The coin was shaped into a bowl. The coin has arabic script and the Islamic calendar date of 1329 inside the bowl, which, I have been told, is by our calendar the year 1911. The silver handle is twisted, 3" length, and has the fatima (fatma) hand at the other end. The total length of the spoon is approximately 5" long. On the reverse side of the hand is a small rectangular mark which I assume is the mark of the craftsman for this spoon. My mother bought this while working in Morocco the 1950's..It weighs 11.3398 grams. |
