 Diamond Clarity is a scale designed by the Gemological Institute of America to create a basis under which to measure the flawlessness of a diamond. Diamonds with larger more visible flaws, or inclusions, have less value and fall to the right of the scale. SI2 to I3 diamonds have inclusions that are visible with the eye.  Likewise created by the GIA, the Diamond Color Scale measures the color of a diamond. Naturally occurring diamonds tend to have substances suspended minerals that affect the transparency of the diamonds. The color scale measures how little or how much of this color is visible.
