These binoculars are fantastic for astronomical use or nature study. Great for deep-sky observing! Remember you have a pair of 2.4 inch telescopes in your hands. That is a respectable telescope in its own right. Just in case you do not know what the 20X80 means, I thought I would explain it in some detail. These binoculars give a magnification of 20 times the original view. The lenses on these binoculars are 60 mm which is 2.4 inches in diameter. These are great in dim light because they gather 144% increase in light compared to a 10X50 pair of binoculars and have twice the power. This is a large pair of binoculars. It is rather heavy to be hand held except for short periods. These include a sturdy bracket for use with your standard photo tripod. These binoculars are brand new in the box. They have a center focus as shown above plus adjustments on the right lens to allow you to adjust for differences between our eyes. With such a large main lens, you get very bright images for dim light conditions. With these powerful binoculars, you can view details for nature watching to bring animals and birds up close. For astronomy there are a lot of things you can see including four moons of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, and craters on the moon. A large number of galaxies, nebula, and star clusters are well within the range of these. Shipping on this item within the US is by UPS ground. Guess who is really paying for 5 to 10 full-page ads in Astronomy Magazine and Sky and Telescope?
