A lot happened to glam thrash metallists Coal Chamber between the release of their sophomore effort, 1999's CHAMBER MUSIC, and their third offering, 2002's DARK DAYS. They split from their longtime manager (Ozzy's wife Sharon Osbourne) and watched as original bassist Rayna Foss took a leave of absence from the group to give birth to a child fathered by Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose before returning for the recording of DARK DAYS, and then eventually leaving for good. However, upon first listen to DARK DAYS, you quickly come to realize that despite all the upheavals, Coal Chamber's musical approach has remained in tact; bone-crunching, metallic music merged with singer/screamer Dez Fafara's bile-spitting vocals. The intensity doesn't dip throughout the album's duration, as evidenced by such standout tracks as the album- opening "Fiend," "Glow," the title track, and the slow-burning "Rowboat," to name but a few.
