Up for auction are 13 postcards featuring steamboats and steamers in the US, early 1900s-1920s. One of the cards has an undivided address side showing the Steamer Potter that worked the Washington State coast, postmarked 1906 at Ilwaco (see photos 1 and 11). 3 other cards are postally used - Steamers J. S. W. W. and Barge at Burlington Iowa (postmarked 1910 at Burlington), steamboat Idaho on the St. Joe River (postmarked 1909), and steamboats at Vicksburg Mississippi (postmarked at Vicksburg). The other 9 cards are not postally used - the then-new steamer Horicon on Lake George; Key Route ferry steamer San Francisco crossing San Francisco Bay; an excursion boat on the Missouri River at Kansas City; steamer Winnebago at the Dells, Kilbourn Wisconsin; steamer Dalles City on the Cascade Locks Columbia River Oregon; steamer Rapids King on the Lachine Rapids on the St. Lawrence river; the steamer Plymouth docked at Plymouth Massachusetts; the Rensselaer on the Hudson River (a night boat); and the steamer Concord that sailed between New York and Providence. In good condition overall, some have rubs or slight creasing, but the images show well. Buyer pays $2.50 shipping and handling in the US. |
