Princess Elizabeth (the present Queen of England) was the stated benefactor for a children's hospital in 1936. The book editors enlisted the aid of 26 English artists and writers (Kipling among them) to raise money for the hospital. The lone American participant was Walt Disney who produced two full color Mickey Mouse illustrations . (4 pages) which begin and end the book.
The 224 page publication is 10-1/4" by 7-1/2" and has 26 stories, many illustrated by full page artwork. The book is complete with only slight cover soiling. There is some creasing on the lower right corner of the front cover.
The spine is strong with no page separations. There is a slight tanning effect and four pages have small fold marks in the upper right corner. The page corners are still sharp. There is no child's writing or coloring, but there is slight discoloration on the inside front and back covers.
Disney artwork is signed "By permission Walt Disney--Mickey Mouse Ltd." Rare and unusual pre-war book.
