Hey you, Pok�mon fanatic! Have you ever wanted to control your very own Pok�mon? Now you can with HEY YOU, PIKACHU! for the Nintendo 64. It's as simple as speaking into the microphone that connects to your controller. If Pikachu understands you, he'll respond. The little yellow pocket monster has a vocabulary of approximately 200 words, and Professor Oak is even on hand to train you in the ways of creature communication. Wake up Pikachu each day by shouting "Good Morning!" and decide what games to play and activities to engage in. You can play Pok�mon trivia on the in-game TV, gather food, hunt for treasure, collect seemingly endless goodies, go fishing, baby-sit Caterpie, and much more. You'll also play a variety of mini-games while guiding Pikachu along with friendly commands. As you bond and converse with your cartoon pal you'll investigate the Ochre Woods, head for the campground, check out Bulbasaur's picnic, and even solve clever puzzles. HEY YOU, PIKACHU! is an interactive romp that gives the younger set a chance to get up close and personal with their favorite Pok�mon character.

Description: Video games don't get much cuter than Hey You, Pikachu!, a Pokémon title that allows players to talk to their favorite electric mouse--via the Voice Recognition Unit (VRU) that's included--and share in its day-to-day adventures. While older Pokémon fans might find the game too childish, the candy-coated goodness that's found here makes it perfect for the kiddies.

With the abstract goal of building a friendship with Pikachu, players communicate with it by speaking certain keywords and phrases into the VRU's microphone. Although Pikachu's speech is limited to variations on its own name (e.g., "Pika! Pika!"), it expresses itself through thought bubbles and the game's adorably animated 3-D graphics.

Mastering this interaction is key to solving Hey You, Pikachu!'s puzzle elements, which are encapsulated in various squeaky-clean activities in which you and Pikachu participate together. While the voice recognition here isn't perfect by any means, there's plenty of on-screen help and guidance to keep players from getting too frustrated. --Joe Hon
