Ares Ad Description I am selling a package of four items – historical memorabilia for the Ares 1-X launch and 40th anniversary of the first man on the moon. Ares 1-X was the first test launch of the rocket that will be used in NASA’s Constellation program. It successfully launched on Wednesday, October 28. The first item is a copy of the Oct. 30, 2009 issue of the NASA Spaceport News that is issued to employees at the Kennedy Space Center. This is a special issue featuring the first flight test of the Ares 1-X rocket at 11:30am EDT on October 28. Besides a front cover photo of launch, this issue also includes a rare series of photos that show the rocket stack being assembled within the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB). A detailed description of the assembly is included with the photos. The back page features a number of pictures of the rollout of the Ares 1-X vehicle from the VAB to the launch pad on October 20. You will also read in this issue an article (with photo) about a European research platform that was taken to the Space Station to gather data while being exposed to space for 18 months in space. Several other photos/articles about activities at KSC are also included. The second item is a nice color picture, suitable for framing, of the Ares 1-X vehicle standing on one pad with the space shuttle in the background standing on the other pad. This is a rare scene that will likely never be seen again. The third item is a copy of a special July 10, 2009 issue of the NASA Spaceport News that commemorates the 40th anniversary of the first man on the moon. This special edition, entitled “The First Steps – Apollo to Constellation”, was entirely printed on glossy paper with many photo included. The stories both look back and also talk about the how the new Ares launch vehicle uses much of the legacy design. A true gem with a wealth of information for any space buff. The last item is a NASA Ares Decal showing the Ares logo that was designed by Star Trek artist Michael Okuda. All are sold together for one price These are a nice collection of historical memorabilia of the program that will succeed the shuttle program. All are in excellent condition. Thank you for your interest. |
