 Description Shipping and payments

This is an original, 1st Edition, of the 1940 Small Wars Manual which was the Bible of The Marine Corps.  Many have called it the 1st Counterinsurgency Manual.  A picture of the cover is shown.  The cover is a very hard canvas type material.  Total pages are unknown because all 64 Sections are numbered themselves.  The manual is approx 1.25" thick & is held together with 3 screw posts  A few pages are loose.  The 1st & last page is stamped, Navy Department, Marine Detachment, U.S.S.Nevada, Official Business.  As a matter of history, The Nevada was heavily damaged on December 7, 1941 while moored in Pearl Harbor.  Photo 2 shows the 1st page which was loose.

This manual is very rare & is in very good condition.  A number of book auction archive sites have been accessed & this manual has not been offered in the recent past.  I checked with a rare book dealer & he had never seen one.  Many recent reprints are available but no originals.

A perfect gift for The Marine Corps Birthday on November 10.

This would be a fine gift to the Marine Corps/Military collector "who has everything".
