This trunk offers plenty of storage space.	There are a few age splits in the top of this trunk. Age splits are superficial separations in the wood that are purely cosmetic and thus do not affect structural integrity.	Shown here is the left side.

The panels feature intricate carvings.	Shown here is the right side.	The base is as sturdy as it is elegant.

This lovely antique oak 18th century trunk was hand-crafted in England. The oak has developed a lovely patina and grain over the past 200+ years. The front has (4) panels with low-relief carvings on each one. The shaped skirt adds even more beauty reminiscent of days gone by. A charming heart-shaped heavily patinated solid-brass escutcheon adorns the front of this piece. The top also has (2) patinated solid brass hinges on either side. The interior is quite spacious at 21" deep, 53 wide and 22" high. This trunk can be used at the foot of a bed for storage of winter clothing and blankets or important keepsakes. There are a few age splits on the top which have been repaired and some minor superficial imperfections which are appropriate in a piece over 200 years old. Part of one hinge is missing. Note the top has (2) hinges on each side so it remains firmly attached. Otherwise this piece is in very good condition.
