CASTLE OF FRANKENSTEIN #12 * A MAGAZINE CALCULATED TO BLOW YOUR MIND * Collecting monster magazines was always more exciting when something other than a Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine was available! The thrill of the hunt was coming across a Monster magazine with an alluring cover that would quickly take care of your measley allowance for the month! Such is the case with this Castle of Frankenstein magazine! Castle of Frankenstein began life as a one shot called Journal Of Frankenstein , published in 1959 by Calvin T. Beck. The first issue of CoF hit the newsstands in 1962. Besides the current and classic horror films, CoF also covered the comics scene and fantasy fiction and art. Popular features included the Frankenstein TV Movie Guide and Slaymate of the Month. The magazine had a run of 25 issues and a 1967 Yearbook. The final issue came out in 1975. CoF featured many excellent cover paintings from artists like Larry Ivie, Frank Brunner, Ken Kelly, Marcus Boas and others, with color photos on the covers of issues #6 - #14. Contents of this issue include Basil Rathbone, Planet Of The Apes, Frankenstein Mini-Reviews, Interview With Marvel's Stan (Spiderman) Lee, Spock Speaks, The Avengers, Smash Gordon, Interview With Chris Lee and much more! A well read magazine that is showing it's age but isn't quite ready for the dumpster yet! A heavy vertical reading crease (as shown) on cover, cover wear along spine and around staples, "In 4288" written in ink (beside 35c) as shown, small chip/paper loss on top edge of cover over no.12, shelf wear on both covers, the onset of browning around edges of cover (apprx. 1/8" strip). Magazine is complete inside with all pages and nothing cut out, but the pages are browning and there is an apprx. 1-1/2" area of reading edge crumble from page 51 thru 66. All magazines are packaged with Collectors in mind. They will be individually bagged, and sandwiched between two pieces of over-sized cardboard. This not only helps to prevent magazine edge damage during the shipping phase, but it also helps to prevent folding and rough handling of the magazine(s). This secured package is then put into a cushioned bubble mailer, helping to ensure you will receive your item in the same condition that it leaves my crypt in! Please read descriptions carefully as I cannot offer insurance or refunds, and am not responsible for items once accepted at the Post Office. A quote for postage cost for combined shipping for multiple purchases is always available. Thanks very much for your interest in my items! |
