This listing is for the antique book shown.  

About the book:  This book is an awesome antique book from 1765. It has one of my favorite characteristics where some of the S's are written like F's. It's hard to tell without reading the book, but it appears to be a philosphical and spiritual analysis of human kind's behaviors compared to the behaviors of the animals... about how humans stifle their natural instincts. I could be off, but that description is definitely close to the idea of the book. At one point the book was talking about how isn't it interesting that from the day they are born we wrap babies tightly (remember, this ws the 1700s) but then as soon as they can they are ripping their clothes off and running around naked.

The contents is in the back and mentions things like... "Different views of human nature, philosphy of the Human body and human mind must be united..., Advantages of women nursing their own children, instinct and reason: their separate provinces"; man can tell the difference between right and wrong,

also religious references

The back of the book also says "Read at the Philosophical Society January 11th 1763"

  • Binding/Cover: Binding is tight. Spine is attached and in good condition. Some peeling (A little bit dry and brittle around spine), but leather is overall pretty supple. Front cover is detached but included (Title page and front end page is attached to front cover). Covers are leather over board.
  • Measures Approx: 6" by 3 7/8"
  • # of Pages: 203
  • Condition of Book: Good condition (other than cover). Some foxing, but very minimal. Pages are rag paper (which I love).
  • Inscriptions: None. Antique book mark is included (came with book).
