This French commode offers plenty of storage space. The marble top looks great. Even the sides look wonderful.
These solid brass pulls contrast beautifully with the flame mahogany. Here you can see a few scratches that the marble has sustained. Brass escutcheons. This piece no longer has keys.
The mahogany backsplash looks great against the marble. Each drawer features hand-cut dovetails. A view of the back shows much of the sturdy paneling that composes the structure of this commode.
     This marvelous French mahogany commode was hand-crafted around 1890 and recently imported to our antique furniture store here in Atlanta, GA, USA. The flame mahogany, having developed a lovely patina, displays an incredibly rich complexion and as well as its striking namesake grain. The marble top and solid brass hardware complement the flame mahogany beautifully, while the bun feet also look wonderful. As useful as it is beautiful, this antique French commode was built with a classic two-over-three drawer design, so it offers plenty of storage space. Also, each drawer features hand-cut dovetails. This commode has sustained some stress marks over the years, although they are quite minimal, especially for a piece of this age. Structural integrity remains as strong as ever. The marble top and backsplash are not original to this commode and were probably added around the middle of the 20th century.
