Patchwork landscape with Punkerton's farm market selling fresh apples, corn, butter, eggs, fruits, vegetables, honey, flour, hay and grain.
Charles Wysocki was born in Detroit in 1928, of Polish heritage. He describes his early life as "tough times". His creative imagination was extraordinary since childhood when he began to draw his daydreams...the cars he wanted to drive, the airplanes he wanted to fly, and pictured things the way he wanted them to be instead of the way they were. If a scene he was painting wasn't interesting enough, he would add details until he was satisfied that one could almost smell the sea, the flowers, the snow...
After highschool he served in the U.S. army as a sign painter. Later he graduated from The Art Center School of Design in Los Angeles and then returned to Detroit and worked as a commercial illustrator. A few years later he returned to sunny of California to make his home. Soon after, he met his wife, Elizabeth Lawrence. With her encouragement, he started painting and sold all 40 of his first paintings within one month. His paintings were all positive and cheerful. "All the bits and pieces of what is called the real world - transformed by the magic of imagination", he says, "where the welcome is warm, time is kind, and the heart is forever at home."
Charles Wysocki passed away July 29th, 2002. He left us with a vast array of his ingenious paintings capturing a precious era of American history.
"This, to me, was America at it's best Breaking away is easier than most people . You've got to love freedom enough to just break away. America guarantees that freedom, the freedom to do as you please. I made my own heaven in America". --Charles Wysocki
Please note: I am not reproducing Charles Wysocki's work. This fine print is straight from an original book by Wysocki.

Every print I sell is in good condition and is perfectly suitable for framing. (Check my feedback!!) Most of my prints are from vintage portfolio art books whose publishers compiled from the originals with the permission of the owners of the art (see copyright info above). Many of the original works are no longer available for printing so this is your chance to own a copy - without spending a fortune. In fact, most of the low purchase price is used for postage, shipping supplies, and auction fees.
Many of my listings contain both a photograph and a scanned image of the art work to show you the overall size as well as the detail of the print. Please keep in mind, when scanning images, wavy colorful lines sometimes appear, though they are not visible on the actual print with the naked eye. Also, the angle of the camera can make the image appear to be lop-sided, although my prints are all perfectly squared. Finally, images are resized in order to fit on this web page properly, which sometimes causes images to appear distorted. Rest assured the quality is excellent (if you don't agree, return it for a full refund within 7 days). Please check the measurements to ensure you will be able to frame it properly. (Again, the overall size of this print is 11" x 14", while the image itself measures 8.5" x 10".
