IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT was added to the Library of Congress National Film Registry in 1993.

Frank Capra read the story in "Cosmopolitan" magazine and bought the rights for $5,000.  Clark Gable didn't initially want the role and Colbert was the fifth choice for the female lead.  Budget: $325,000.

It Happened One Night (VHS, 1934)  Clark Gable ( 1934, B&W, 105 min, NOT rated) THIS IS A FACTORY ORIGINAL, NOT A BOOTLEG, COPY OR IMPORT!!! this is NOT an Ex-rental,  this VHS tape comes from a collection of movies I traded for, I have not watched it but it looks to be in very good to fine condition and  the original uncut box is in very fine with some wear at bottom edge of box and still has partial shrink wrap on the box .
